Freetown - The following is the election results anouncement by the National Election Commission in Sierra Leone.
Sierra Leone's opposition candidate Julius Maada Bio has won the presidential run-off.
The People's Party presidential candidate won 51.81 percent of votes cast in the March 31 poll. His challenger, Samura Kamara, a former foreign affairs minister garnered 48.19 percent.
Cairo - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has been re-elected for a second term. He garnered 97.08 percent of valid votes cast in an election last week.
The head of the National Elections Authority Lasheen Ibrahim said at a press conference on Monday that turnout was 41.05 percent of the almost 60 million registered voters.
He said 92.73 percent of the votes were valid from the roughly 24 million cast, while almost two million ballots were spoiled.
As indicated earlier, the ESR’s focus is to observe threats to the peaceful conduct of the electioneering process and provide strategic responses to prevent and mitigate election related incidents that have the potential to erupt into violence and public disorder.
