Sierra Leone's opposition candidate Julius Maada Bio has won the presidential run-off.
The People's Party presidential candidate won 51.81 percent of votes cast in the March 31 poll. His challenger, Samura Kamara, a former foreign affairs minister garnered 48.19 percent.
As indicated earlier, the ESR’s focus is to observe threats to the peaceful conduct of the electioneering process and provide strategic responses to prevent and mitigate election related incidents that have the potential to erupt into violence and public disorder.
The Situation Room, supported by the United States Agency for International Developmentin West Africa (USAID/WA), is part of a broader programme designed to mitigate election violence in West Africa through National Early Warning Systems(NEWS).

Sierra Leona - Sierra Leone's second multitier elections which is the fourth after the country's civil war, ended in a very competitive way with 16 candidates including two women contestants aspiring for the ever coveted presidential seat.
Security personnel were deployed in various parts of the country to monitor the process.
