Sierra Leone -  Dr. Abass Chernoh Bundu of the ruling Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) has been elected as Speaker of the 5th Parliament of the Republic of Sierra Leone.

He went unopposed as members of the main opposition APC were not present in the House to participate or nominate a candidate for the election of the Speaker.

71 out of 76 MP's voted in favor of Dr. Abass C. Bundu from the (SLPP) with 1 invalid vote and 4 MP's abstaining. Meanwhile the election of the Deputy Speaker is still expected.72 out of 76 MP's have voted in Sengehpoh Solomon Thomas of the ruling (SLPP), as Deputy Speaker of the House of Parliament.

NIGERIA - Some members of the Senate have asked that the process to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari be started , for failing to get the approval for the withdrawal of $ 496 m from the Excess Crude Account to purchase military aircraft . Senator Mathew Uroghide , who moved a motion at the plenary on Thursday , specifically urged resident of the Senate , Bukola Saraki , to allow the chamber to invoke Section 143 of the Constitution.

SIERRAN LEONE - Office of the President has made partial appointments

Sierra Leone - On Saturday, members of the Kamara’s All People’s Congress Party (APC) including the presidential candidate, his running mate and the secretary general of the party together with other senior members paid a courtesy visit to president Bio at his Juba Residence in Freetown.

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has declared his intention to see for a second term in office.

Rising from the ruling APC party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) Meeting in Abuja, President Buhari said his decision was in the best interest of the party and the country.
