Observers have been indoors at their hotels while violence has been spreading through the country. Opposition strong holds residents have chosen not to vote for which polls were did not take place in those areas.

29th October 2017 - DAY 4

Opposition Rial Odinga gets a heroe’s welcome in Kawangware, where ethnic violence has erupted after rival groups clashed. The violence in the Nairobi County has seen properties torched of which most belonged to Kenyatta’s Kikuyu tribe. While reports of a person were being killed belonged to Odinga’s Luo group. The residents of belonging to the two parties armed themselves.

Odinga spoke to worshippers during church saying

“They were there to give consolation & their support to all who lost their loved ones, who were beaten & who lost their belongings alongside livelihoods”.

In 2007, over 1000 Kenyans lost their lives in various violent clashes. So far since August 2017 to date 50 deaths are reported.

 

28th October 2017 - DAY 3

The Election Commission IEBC, postponed polls for Saturday in the counties which saw resistance by the residents who made it clear they would use their right of not voting until new reforms were made by the commission. 

The authorities with residents had running battles during which Police used live ammunition according to rights groups. In Bungoma county, two dies after being shot by the police and several injured who are reported to be in hospital.

In Migori, a 12 year old boy was shot in his stomach while in Kawangware tensions also escalated. Opposition supporters boycotted the re run polls. Destruction is evidently seen with burnt structures, properties & tension can be felt. Residents are carrying Pangas. 

The IEBC, is still hoping to have polls in the 25 constituencies of the 4 counties but remain uncertain as the violence escalated & now Kenyans are beginning to attack each other on a tribal basis so the issue seems to have exacerbated to tribalism which is dangerously spreading like fire.

 28th October 2017 -  Day 3  

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) , finally made the announcement of no polls as planned for 28th October. Running battles between the residents of various counties & authorities. The police yesterday  used live bullets of which 2 deaths have been reported while several are in hospital. 

DAY 2 -  27th October 2017

The IEBC, has called off a repeat Presidential poll in Kisumu today after rights groups, activists, opposition & church leaders pressured the commission to re - think on having polls tomorrow  Saturday 28th October 2017.  Residents are adamant on a choice of using their voting right but in this cae they are not prepared until reforms are made by IEBC Commission.

 

Day 2 - 27th October 2017

Kisumu, Kibera, Migori, Kawangware are some places to mention where clashes between authorities & residents have been ongoing regarding the poll's announced by the chair Wafula Chebukati of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

 

 

 

Day 2 - 27th October 2017 

RAILA ODINGA addressing supporters in KIBERA Nairobi county said he will be making an announcement on Monday for the way forward with elections 2017. After his visit to his strong hold he was interveiw by CNN, in which he said elections were a sham, we want fresh elections in the next 90 days and for which they are willing to talk to Uhuru Kenyatta on the matter not for a unity government .

 

26th October 2017 - Day 1, ELECTION DAY

During the re run of Kenyan Elections UHURU  Kenyatta votes. Uhuru's hometown queues were seen to be long while around the opposition strong holds polling stations were very quiet & some even deserted.

26th October 2017 - ELECTION DAY 1

Heavy Police & armed forces were seen through the re run election day in Kenya. Some skirmishes  in different parts of the country were also reported. The authorities have been calm & seen engaging with public without using any heavy handedness but dialogue.

26th October 2017 - Thursday

Kenyans head to the polls once again after the August 8th elections. The mood is not as energetic as it was then but voters apathy and violence in strong holds of opposition has been reported. Securrity forces are on high alert.

 

25th October 2017

Kenya's Uhuru, addressed the nation from the state house on the eve of re - run of elections asking all Kenyan's to unite for the prosperity of the country. He urged all Kenyan's to come out and vote as they did previously in August 2016.
